Apple CEO Tim Cook publicly confirmed he is gay in an opinion piece published Thursday, making him the highest-profile chief executive to come out. In an essay published by Bloomberg Businessweek advocating for human rights and equality, Cook says he was inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King to set aside his desire for privacy to do something “more important.” “While I have never denied my sexuality, I haven’t publicly acknowledged it either, until now,” writes Cook. “So let me be clear: I’m proud...

The chasm that has divided homo and hetero men seems to be closing fast. Straight dudes are opening up about the subject of anal play, and gay/straight bromances — not to mention cross-sexuality cuddling — are becoming increasingly popular. Still, there’s work to be done. One can never have too many friends. We’re totally happy to open up our social circles and welcome males of the opposite sexuality into our folds, provided we’re all on the same page. Here are eight things we’d like our straight brethren to...

“They’re these creatures that are so destructive,” Anthony Culler said A South Carolina Congressional candidate called same-sex couples “gremlins” out to “destroy our way of life” in a seven-minute Facebook video released Monday. The video followed a lengthy statement the candidate posted to Facebook on Oct. 14 urging South Carolina voters to stand with him if they were for traditional marriage. “I made a comment that same-sex couples that want to destroy traditional marriage and our way of life, they’re gremlins,”...

Anti-gay activists in Paris are protesting a giant inflatable Christmas tree – because it looks too much like a butt plug. The 80ft (24m) high inflatable sculpture was erected this week by LA-based artist Paul McCarthy, in Place Vendome, near Paris city centre. However, the installation – known as ‘Tree’ – has faced protests from far-right group Printemps Francais, because of its resemblance to a sex toy. The anti-gay group claimed the privately commissioned work had “disfigured” Paris, adding: “This is where your money...

A new US poll has found that LGBT people rate lower on a well-being index than straight individuals. The Gallup Poll found US LGBT people had an average score of 58 on a Well-Being Index. For straight people, the average score was a 62. Researchers said that this difference was true even after factors like gender, age, race, and state of residence were taken into account. LGBT people living in the US are 10 percent less likely to be thriving financially – the biggest gap found in the poll. The study also found LGBT adults are less...

Activist and actor George Takei opened up to Oprah about how his love story with husband Brad Altman all started. Though publicly in the closet until 2005, Takei was privately active in LGBT organisations as early as the 1980s. It was at one of those organisations, a gay runners club called LA Frontrunners, where Takei met Altman. In the Oprah: Where Are They Now? clip, Takei says: “He was the best runner in the club. And also great-looking. “So I went up to him and I asked him to train me for my first marathon.” The two became...

It was Keeling’s first appearance at the Gay Games event, which...

(editorial) – The number one question in my Facebook inbox is, “Where have you been?” I’m here, living life. I’m just not on Facebook (nowhere nearly) as much as I used to be. As a mater of fact, it seems I’m not the only one. Facebook usage in the US is declining since last year, and static in the U.K. I used to visit my Facebook account several times a day, 7 days a week. Now, I visit my personal Facebook account maybe once a week at the most. Why the shift and why are many users feeling the same way? I can’t speak...

Study Finds Historically Gay Neighborhoods Straightening. These areas reportedly include Chicago’s Boystown, San Francisco’s Castro district, New York’s Greenwich Village and Atlanta’s...
