A new US poll has found that LGBT people rate lower on a well-being index than straight individuals. The Gallup Poll found US LGBT people had an average score of 58 on a Well-Being Index. For straight people, the average score was a 62. Researchers said that this difference was true even after factors like gender, age, race, and state of residence were taken into account. LGBT people living in the US are 10 percent less likely to be thriving financially – the biggest gap found in the poll. The study also found LGBT adults are less...

Activist and actor George Takei opened up to Oprah about how his love story with husband Brad Altman all started. Though publicly in the closet until 2005, Takei was privately active in LGBT organisations as early as the 1980s. It was at one of those organisations, a gay runners club called LA Frontrunners, where Takei met Altman. In the Oprah: Where Are They Now? clip, Takei says: “He was the best runner in the club. And also great-looking. “So I went up to him and I asked him to train me for my first marathon.” The two became...

Comedian and actor Robin Williams died in his home Monday at the age of 63. His death may have been a suicide, though that has yet to be confirmed by the Marin County, Calif., coroner. (editorial) – The number one question in my Facebook inbox is, “Where have you been?” I’m here, living life. I’m just not on Facebook (nowhere nearly) as much as I used to be. As a mater of fact, it seems I’m not the only one. Facebook usage in the US is declining since last year, and static in the U.K. I used to visit my Facebook account several times a day, 7 days a week. Now, I visit my personal Facebook account maybe once a week at the most. Why the shift and why are many users feeling the same way? I can’t speak...

These areas reportedly include Chicago’s Boystown, San Francisco’s Castro district, New York’s Greenwich Village and Atlanta’s...

Researchers have discovered that even some people who consider themselves to not be homophobic still think gay men can ‘contaminate’ them. Straight people still think gay men are ‘dirty’, according to new research. According to experiments undertaken across the world, the participants felt the need to ‘physically cleanse’ themselves after imagining contact with a gay person. Researchers believe it proves some people think gay men can ‘contaminate’ them in their subconscious mind. If the participant considered...

While some lesbians of a certain age undoubtedly thought Marsha Brady was neat-o, lesbians definitely like the Brady clan’s uniformed maid Alice. This isn’t surprising. I mean, let’s face it, it’s apparent that the sturdy, wise-cracking Alice was the real man of the Brady house. While many a lesbian have suspected that Sam the Butcher was really Sam the Beard, we lack solid evidence. Yet, Wikipedia has revealed that Alice’s “relationship” and perpetual engagement to Sam was a non-sexual arrangement of sorts, calling Alice...
