Dunkin’ Donuts owner calls police on black woman for using store’s free Wi-Fi

A Dunkin’ Donuts owner called the police on a black customer after arguing over the company’s free Wi-Fi policy.

On Facebook, Tirza Wilbon White posted the conversation she recorded with franchise owner Christina Cabral at a Dunkin’ Donuts in Fairfax, Va., on Nov. 7, minutes after arriving at the store. White had frequented the store for the past two years, purchasing coffee and working on her laptop while using the company’s free Wi-Fi service.

Dunkin’ Donuts owner states this is not a racial issue.  This is a issue of security for all customers.  They do not allow loitering in their place of business.  Customers should buy their food or drink first then they can utilize the facilities.

White stated, “In her mind, I was the ‘people’ who loiter. In reality, I was a customer in her store, until yesterday, and I have been for more than 2 years.”

  1. This story is not only one-sided but it’s very misleading. Ms White self-admittedly claimed she didn’t buy anything. This is about business not a racial issue. All she had to do is buy coffee and there would be no issue. She refused to do that. She wanted to use the facilities for free. Is that what this franchise is all about? Giving free wifi for selling coffee and doughnuts? She was there to make a video and post it online to not only get attention but to yell racism when racism is not there. Very poor article!
