Proposed settlement terms between Palm Springs and the company formerly led by developer John Wessman shifted Tuesday after city leaders unveiled a new potential agreement with more land for the city, but no definitive plans to build a downtown library.
At a meeting with The Desert Sun Editorial Board, Mayor Pro Tem Geoff Kors, City Manager David Ready and Assistant City Manager Marcus Fuller shared the new plan less than two weeks after the council discussed the original proposed settlement.
Based on comments from the council and mixed reaction from the community, the city worked to create a new proposal.
The new settlement offer with Grit Development, formerly known as Wessman Holdings, has initially been valued by the city at roughly $33.7 million, though much of the land needs to be independently appraised. The city said it plans to complete the appraisals in the next few weeks.
