Radio Show Redefining The Word ‘Middle’

‘Allen’s World Radio Show’ has been a fixture on PNN Radio’s programming lineup for 20 years.  In the past two years, the radio show has changed its format.   The title was then changed to ‘Stuck In The Middle’  because of the political climate.  “I tried to stay on topic”, said radio host Allen Edwards.  “I was constantly being dragged into politics by callers and emails, so I thought if they want me to go there, I will do just that.”

Online listenership drastically went up and not just from one side.  “It’s amazing how people, who disagree with the topic, will listen in and participate”, says Program Director Corey White.  “When they get angry at the air-talent’s viewpoint, they listen in longer.”

Because of the growing success of the radio show, ‘Stuck In The Middle’ will be expanding to other markets and formats.  The show is in the process of expanding to terrestrial radio stations as well as a live online video show that will simulcast the radio broadcast.

“The word ‘middle’ has a whole new meaning to me”, commented Edwards.  “It’s really not the middle anymore.  There’s no such thing as middle-class.  Right-wingers are so far off the charts.  Extreme left feel they just need to break things to be heard.  Then there’s the majority of us just trying to make sense of it all.”

When Allen was asked to describe the show, he stated it’s basically the topic of the day.  Be it something that happened to him, what somebody did or the craziness of the political climate.  “I’ve noticed lately that no matter what I talk about, the emails and call-ins come right back to Trump”, said Allen.  “For those that don’t know me, I can make it perfectly clear right now, I do NOT like Donald Trump.  He’s a bacteria that’s infecting this country.  So his name does come up a lot in my shows.  I also like to talk about Walmart, Tacos and idiot drivers.”

The expansion and new format of the show is expected later this summer.  New live show hours will be announced along with new markets in the next few weeks.  If you miss any show; on-demand will be available on the updated national website.  “Call-ins make the show”, said Allen.  “Even when we’re not on the air, call and leave your comments because I do air them and we all laugh together.  Yes, I’m speaking to you trumpets.”
