While under the leadership of Stephen Bannon, Breitbart.com registered a trademark application for the phrase “Big Gay Hate Machine” back in May 2015. While it is unknown what the trademark was to be used for, the application shows many uses including news shows, bumper stickers, mugs, t-shirts and more.
The trademark request was conveniently abandoned on March 4, 2016 as Bannon was becoming more involved with politics. While the trademark request “Big Gay Hate Machine” was going through the process, it was being used in articles and other content on the Breitbart.com website.
